Pixels and scale. I feel like these go hand-in-hand. This reminds me of last week's discussions on abstraction and the divergence between details and the 'big picture'.
I continued iterating on my idea of a video game and have managed to place my little 'pixel characters' into the browser, using Javascript and Node.js to allow multiple to each control one character at the same time.
I need to continue working on the code in order to allow for deep game mechanics (because at this point there are none) and to enhance the overall experience. This is more of a proof of concept, an initial step in the direction that the game will take.
I'm happy with the aesthetic quality of the characters and I hope to continue making more. I will need to delve further into developing the mechanics and interactions between the characters, as well as the game universe and the storyline that will encompass the experience.
You can try it out here. For the moment it only works when I'm running the node.js instance on my server, so apologies if you can't see anything! If you can't test it with more people, you can emulate the experience by opening the same URL in different tabs or browsers. You can see the code on Github here.
